We have some exciting volunteer openings at our Beeston operation. We are developing a new hub here at FareShare Yorkshire and we are pleased to announce that we are now recruiting some new volunteers for our Lenton Drive hub in Leeds.
We currently have slots for Volunteer Drivers and Volunteer Warehouse Assistants to join the team.
FareShare Yorkshire was formed in 1998 to help tackle the food poverty issues across the county by redistributing surplus food across the region. We source and redistribute quality, in-date surplus food which would otherwise have to go to waste. We turn an environmental problem into a social solution.
FareShare Yorkshire works in partnership with the UK’s largest food charity FareShare UK. We are part of a network of 21 regional centres across the UK, of which FareShare Yorkshire operate in Barnsley and Leeds.
We are a community of independent franchised charities, all fighting for the same issues: hunger, food insecurity issues and food waste. Over 270,000 tonnes of perfectly edible surplus food is thrown away each year and we want to see that food put to good use.
- Volunteer Drivers: Our van drivers are vital to the work we do. Drivers make sure our food gets delivered to charity members in 11 towns and cities across Yorkshire. You must be over 18 to do this role, have a full clean driving licence and be confident in driving a 3.5 tonne van.
- Volunteer Warehouse Assistants: A good degree of physical fitness is required for our warehouse assistants, as the tasks involve a lot of bending and lifting. Full training and PPE will be provided. The positions are available for immediate start and the commitment will be discussed with the individual. Mon – Fri hours to be confirmed with successful candidates.
